Whether it’s a small beach elopement or a 200 guest rager, we’re all about seeing your day through the eyes of your people and those candid authentic moments.

We’re here for the NZ couples getting married or eloped who care more about real moments than "perfect" ones.

We believe the best footage isn’t performed, it happens naturally when people forget the cam is even there. By putting the camcorder in the hands of your favourite people, it records the candid unscripted energy that was already there to begin with.

Even though we aren’t there physically holding the camcorder, we’ve handled the logistics, prepped the gear, and we’ll be the ones personally crafting your film once the celebrations are over.

Our golden rule is simple "Let the moment lead, then the edit follow."

Because we're currently planning our own big day, we get how much these moments matter. We treat every hire and film like it’s as important as our own so you can relax knowing we’re going to deliver the goods and include the stuff that actually counts.

1. Let’s be honest most of us would hate having a random person shoving a camera in our faces all day. But your mate or your Mum doing it? So different!

2. Standard wedding videography can be expensive. Like really really expensive. We reckon you shouldn't have to sell a kidney just to have a great film of your wedding. By letting your crew handle the filming and us handle the editing, you get a wedding video without the massive bill.

How did your love of film start? "I’m a oldie at heart and loved film since I was young! It started with rewatching VHS tapes of my parents' wedding and childhood, which led to a (failed) YouTube vlogging era in the 2010s. Eventually, I turned that passion into racking up video software skills during my Communications and Media qualification and working as a content photographer."

Why camcorders and why Us On Film?"I’m a sucker for anything nostalgic and authentic, which I feel is so hard to find these days. When planning our own wedding, we searched high and low for a videography style that was candid, within our price range and actually felt right. There was nothing, at least not in New Zealand. I saw someone overseas use a camcorder and thought, 'That’s what we’ll do!' I figured if we wanted something candid and simple for our big day, other couples probably did too."

What’s your role at Us On Film? "I’m the Lead Creative here. I handle everything from your initial emails to the final cut and delivery of your film."

What were you looking for in a wedding video? "I just knew I didn’t want a stranger filming us or close up shots of things we didn’t care about. Aimee came back with a few quotes from amazing videographers, but they just weren't for us and they weren't in our budget."

How did this idea come about? "We were walking along our beach access when she said, 'How about we use my camcorder and film camera and I’ll edit everything?' I was on board straight away. The fact that you’re able to record with your mates, exactly how you want it, was perfect. I love that we'll be able to rewatch it together, see what we missed, or show our kids one day. I knew if we wanted that surely other people did as well."

What’s your role at Us On Film? "Alongside our other local Papamoa business we run together, I help out where I can. I mainly handle the logistics and the packing to make sure everything is good to go, but I also jump into the edit suite to help with the films."
